If you find yourself wanting to hang out with other high school students that get you, and if you are serious about your faith, Sync is a great place to be. We have some of the hippest leaders from Engedi hanging out with you every Wednesday night from 7–9pm. You’ll come, hang out with friends, worship with a sweet band, listen to a teaching that was prepared with you in mind, and leave pumped to come back next week.

Time to eat and compete.
For our end of the year picnic, we will not be meeting on Tuesday, May 1st. Instead we will meet on Wednesday, May 2nd from 7-9pm with our high school ministry Sync. Please plan on joining us on Wednesday night, to celebrate the end of the year with some good food, middle school vs high school competitions and a graduation ceremony for our 9th and 12th grade students.

Parents: If you would like to volunteer this night and help with grilling and serving food, Johnny would love the help. Email Johnny him to let him know you are interested.

Questions: Email Johnny.

Want a free iPad or iPod Touch?

We thought that’s what you’d say. Any student can win these two fabulous prizes! All you have to do is memorize 1 peter 2.1-12 for a chance to win an iPod Touch at the Merry Skatemas Party December 14th or a chance to win a new iPad at the End of the Year Picnic May 2nd.  Students that memorize the entire passage will have their names entered into the drawing 4 times.

Here’s a quick breakdown of how to enter.
Memorize 1 Peter 2.1-5 = Name entered once. Memorize 1 Peter 2.6-9 = Name entered a second time. Memorize 1 Peter 2.10-12 = Name entered a 3rd time. If you can say 1 Peter 2.1-12 without any help = Name entered a 4th time! If you don’t win the iPod touch at the Merry Skatemas Party, don’t worry, your names stay in for the iPad 2 drawing at the end of the year!

Fine Print: You must be at the End of the Year Picnic to win the new iPad.

More on sync

A typical Wednesday night at Sync
7–7:15pm | Hangout
Hang out with everyone, meet some new friends, challenge your LifeGroup leaders to pool, foosball, ping pong, air hockey or Wii, and chill on the bean bags—all while listening to some sweet music.

7:15-7:17pm | Welcome
Gather around the stage on the bleachers and bean bags and prepare for an awesome night.

7.17-7:35pm | Random
We might meet some new friends by telling them how we got that scar under our chin, or we might play a high-energy game, or have some time to chill with our LifeGroup and catch up with each other. Whatever happens, it’s always a good time.

7:35-7:45pm | Worship
We usually have an awesome band made up of Hope College students to lead us in singing, but sometimes we think, write, pray, draw, listen, dance, move, breathe, paint and experience God in different ways. You’ll love the new ways you connect with God through the experiential worship at Sync.

7:45-8:10pm | Teaching
It may surprise you that teachings are one of our students’ favorite parts about Sync. They may even become your favorite part. You’ll hear from great speakers that are excited to teach you about yourself and God. Teachings rarely go past 25 minutes long—we keep it short and engaging.

8:10-8:45pm | LifeGroups
After the teaching, you’ll go and hang out with your LifeGroup to talk more, catch up with each other, laugh and just talk about life. This is also a great time to talk with each other about your thoughts on the teaching, but it’s a pretty flexible time to just chill.

8:45-8:50 | Announcements
Sync plays a short clip every week from a video found on YouTube, followed by some announcements for what’s coming up at Sync.

Email Johnny if you have a link for an awesome video to watch at Sync.

Journals
ync provides you with a journal for your use during the evening. Maybe you want to take some notes during the teaching, maybe you want to rip out a page so you can give your phone number to the good-looking new kid, maybe you want to write down your prayers, or maybe you just want to draw—however you use it, that’s what these journals are for.
LifeGroup Nights
There are two nights each year where, instead of meeting with everyone at Sync, you and your LifeGroup hangout for the night. Use this night to chill together, get to know each other better and have a good time. You could get coffee at Lemonjellos, watch a movie at your house with delicious kettle corn, have a Halo tournament, learn how to break dance, play broom ball, make a video of each other lip-syncing to an awesome 80’s song or anything else you can squeeze into your time together. The choice is yours, so make it a good one!
Service Nights
Like LifeGroup nights, these are nights when we don’t have our regularly scheduled program. Instead, we go out into our community and serve others. It could be anything from organizing a local non-profit clothing store to raking leaves or shoveling snow. Service nights happen twice a year and are organized by Johnny and your leaders. All you have to do is show up and serve.
Events
Sync has some pretty epic events. We have been known to host concerts, compete in dodgeball tournaments, wage war against each other with water balloons, joust each other to the death, and so much more. If we told you everything, your head might explode from awesome overload. Check out the Calendar below to see what events we have planned for this year.
Calendar
So much goes on in a single year that it’s impossible for us to fit it all in one place. But for you and for your parents, we’ve tried. Click here to see the Sync calendar for the 2011-2012 school year.
