Purpose of the Position

The Communications Director will be a passionate, missionally-minded individual who has a deep understanding of branding, creative design, and communication strategies. He or she will be able to effectively tell the story of what God is doing through Engedi by leveraging a variety of mediums that push the edge of cultural relevance. A successful candidate for this position is a champion of the church’s vision and is able to clearly and passionately communicate it in a compelling way. The Communications Director is responsible for and focused on leadership and team development, oversight, and execution of all aspects of internal and external communications.

  • Ability to carry out the communication vision of Engedi with particular emphasis on keeping communication fresh
  • Ideally has 3+ years of marketing/communication experience 
  • Preferred experience with managing staff and/or volunteers
  • Strong understanding of brand management
  • Effective administrative skills – including the ability to set goals, create systems, facilitate advance planning, and effectively manage ministry and personal schedules
  • Strong communication and writing skills
  • Team player – humble, willing to defer to others, supportive of Engedi ministries
  • Is a partner of Engedi or is willing to become one upon joining staff

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Oversee the creation and strategy of various projects, timelines, budgets and processes within the Communications Department using print material, web and social media platforms
  • Oversee the development and design of all art, videos, graphics, and promotional materials that are modern, professional, and consistent with the Engedi brand
  • Support select campaigns by Engedi departments through brainstorming communication strategies, presenting concepts, and overseeing the execution of the final campaign
  • Work with the Project Manager to write and edit communication messages for use in the various mediums and to various audiences
  • Work closely with the Worship Arts Department on Sunday morning communication elements, i.e. videos, announcements, slides, etc.
  • Oversee the Engedi website and mobile app
  • Cultivate, lead, and manage the communications staff including Graphic Designer, Project Manager, Video Coordinator and Social Media & Marketing Coordinator. 
  • Recruit, lead, and grow Communications volunteers in coordination with the Communications staff team
  • Oversee the management of outside contractors
  • Oversee lobby presence as well as the facilities branding and design across all campuses

 

Other Responsibilities

  • Participate in monthly staff meetings (2nd Monday of the month)
  • Participate in staff prayer meetings (every Monday)
  • Participate in Worship Nights (three per year)
  • Attend all-staff and director retreats (three per year, two are overnight)

 

Other Details 

  • Full-time, 45 hours/week position including vacation and personal days, cell phone reimbursement, subsidized onsite daycare at Holland Campus, matching 403b contributions, and healthcare benefits.
